Taxation

DID YOU KNOW? The Taxation Department allows taxpayers to make automatic monthly payments for taxes, if your tax account is paid up to date (eg. if joining June, taxes for January to May of the current year must be paid plus any arrears owing), rather than a single annual payment. Please contact the Tax Department if you are unsure of your monthy payment amount or your catch-up payment amount. To sign up for the Monthly Tax Payment Plan (MTPP) please click here.

The property taxes citizens pay is calculated in proportion to the value of the real estate property they own. Determining the value of a property for taxation purposes is known as assessment. Assessed values are a means of fairly distributing the tax burden and ensuring that each property owner pays a fair level of tax in relation to his/her neighbour.

  • The taxation year runs from January to December each year (first payment January 31).
  • The Annual Tax Notice is mailed at the end of May and is due at end of June.
  • The City mails the following brochures with the Annual Tax Notices in May.  If you did not receive this brochure, you can view it here:

  • The City of Airdrie collects funds on your annual tax notice for The Rocky View Foundation.  The Foundation is a non-profit association, established in February of 1964 to provide low rental housing units for the seniors residing in the Municipal district of Rocky View including the municipalities of Airdrie, Beiseker, Cochrane, Crossfield and Irricana.
