Sustainability

Let's "enVision" Airdrie … together we can become a sustainable community.

Are you interested in the social, cultural, environmental, economic and governance aspects of your community?  Are you interested in discovering what sustainability means for Airdrie?  Then, come out and join us to create Airdrie's Community Sustainability Plan.

2007 marked the beginning of Airdrie's process to develop an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan.  Developing a plan is a long-term process and the City looks forward working closely with the community on this journey toward sustainability.  Community visioning is the first step of this process and this visioning will take place in the spring and summer of 2008.  The visioning process is designed to gather information about how people envision the Airdrie of the future.  In addition to holding events to gather input, the City will seek feedback from residents at various community events and in public locations.  Share your knowledge and vision for the future of Airdrie.  Your feedback is essential to this process and we look forward to hearing from you as we embark on this exciting journey toward sustainability together.  Information gathered during community visioning sessions will form the foundation for the community's vision and the Integrated Community Sustainability will evolve from the vision.

The enVision Airdrie logo has been designed to represent the community's sustainability initiative.  The five bars on the top of the icon represent the five pillars of sustainability: social, economic, environmental, cultural and governance.  It also depicts a cityscape in the horizon.  The logo is intended to evoke a sense of action and movement into Airdrie's next century.  The arch represents both the City of Airdrie's arch as well as a horizon into the future.  It evokes the path that we are on as a community.  A subtle "eye" depicted in the logo offers additional imagery that emphasizes "vision."

Become a part of this action, movement and energy by participating in creating Airdrie's vision in 2008.  Please look for opportunities to come out and provide your feedback during community visioning sessions scheduled this spring and summer.
