Community Services

Community Services is dedicated to serving the citizens of Airdrie in planning and facilitating quality services including parks, recreation, open spaces, pathways, culture and social services.

What we do

Community Development supports and encourages recreation, leisure and cultural opportunities for Airdrie residents in order to ensure personal well-being, increased quality of life, and a vibrant sense of community. Assisting Airdrie and area residents to build on the strengths, assets and capacities already present in the community, by:

  • Encouraging the development and support of partnerships and cooperative relationships;
  • Facilitating the development and sustainability of community based organizations;
  • Mobilizing individuals and communities to promote community caring and responsibility for individual and community well-being;
  • Leveraging and aligning our resources in areas of greatest need: information, education, referral and advocacy.
  • Liaising with other City of Airdrie departments, such as Parks, Recreation and the Aldermanic office.

Community Development can assist residents with processes to achieve desired outcomes for recreation and leisure. Connecting people, resources and information to increase individual and community capacity.
