Building in Airdrie? This section has information on:
The Planning Department creates overall City Plans for adoption by City Council. Before construction begins for any new project, City planners review development proposals for compliance with these plans. These plans start with the Airdrie City Plan, and work their way through major sectors of the City into individual neighbourhoods, through open houses, public hearings and finally to rules pertaining to the development of each individual lot. See notice of development and appeals.
Working closely with the Planning Department, the City’s Engineering Services Department manages the technical and scientific matters pertaining to construction of the City. This includes the details of construction for the City’s roads, water, sanitary sewer and storm water management systems.
After new development areas have received approval from the City’s Planning and Engineering departments, the City’s Building Inspections Department reviews plans for the actual construction of buildings. This department’s principal concern is to ensure all buildings are constructed in accordance with the relevant building and fire codes, so all new structures are reviewed and inspected for safety and quality of construction.
